Just when I decided that I needed to start doing more art and that I needed to get in the habit of drawing every day again,¹ in walks Jake Parker and Inktober. I don’t know what rock I was living under that I hadn’t heard about this before, but alas…my rock was clearly cozy. And when did I learn about it? Today. The day it’s starting. With no warning, but plenty of go gettem,² I quickly decided to take this challenge on.

You can learn all about Inktober by going to the site, but basically…it’s an ink drawing every day, posted to social media. That’s it. You can follow the prompts provided by Jake if you want, but don’t have to. Just one drawing a day, in ink. Period. For me, the challenge is lack of time on a lot of days and lack of ideas, but I’ll come up with something, even if only doodles. Day one is done and I’m ready for 30 more. I dare you to join me!³

¹ And jumped down a pretty serious YouTube rabbit hole trying to learn new artsy things I could start doing.
² Because I’m a glutton for punishment.
³ Do “dares” still work on people?
